Mary Rose was presented a Volunteer Recognition Award by Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua at Vaughan City Hall on April 14, 2016 for her outstanding dedication and contribution to the community particularly to the Filipino-Canadian Association of Vaughan (FCAV). Mary Rose helped organize fundraising events, assisted in the basic computer training courses, and performed clerical work at FCAV’s office.
Twin City marker re-opening; Medical supplies donated to Baguio City from the Filipino-Canadian Association (FCAV). Handing over the medical supplies are Lily & Efren Miranda of FCAV. You will join a loving Italian Canadian family looking after a fun loving, smart 83 year old woman with physical needs (no dementia or Alzheimers). She needs supportive assistance when walking with her walker or on some days in her wheelchair. She needs assistance with toileting and physical transfers between bed, commode, couch, chair, etc. We are looking for someone with patience, loving kindness, a good sense of humour and in strong physical condition. Excellent housekeeping skills are a must! You must be flexible, self motivated and take initiative and also willing to take direction depending on her needs. You will live in as a full time caregiver in a lovely clean bungalow in the Woodbridge area in Vaughan. You will have your own bedroom with a queen size bed, shared washroom, and access to a beautiful kitchen and yard. Public transportation is within a 10 minute walk.
SALARY: Competitive with Live in Caregiver salary
Certificate in PSW, Nursing Assistant, or equivalent
CPR and First Aid certificates
Trained in the use of Assistive devices such as Hoyer lift, wheelchair, wheeled commode, walker, hospital bed, etc
Experience in elderly caregiving minimum of 6 months
Italian speaking beneficial but not necessary
- Assist with morning routines and work alongside PSW from CCAC to shower
- Meal preparation , housekeeping, laundry
- Attend to personal needs as required
- Assess needs on a daily basis and communicate with family members as necessary
- Assist with her transfers from bed to chair to couch, etc as needed
- Assist with toileting needs
- Assist with bedtime routine
- Other duties as assigned

Every year, the Filipino-Canadian Association of Vaughan (FCAV) celebrates the Twinning otherwise known as Friendship Agreement or Sister City relationship between the City of Vaughan and Baguio City, Philippines. This year, the celebration was held on Saturday, October 24, at Patricia Kemp Community. FCAV was instrumental in the realization of the Friendship Agreement and we are proud of this accomplishment.
Dr. Gila Martow, MPP for Thornhill presented a plaque to the officers of FCAV. We thank the City of Vaughan for placing flowers at the Sister City sign at Dufferin and Steeles yearly.
