Celebrating 28 Years of Friendship Between Vaughan and Baguio City

October 31st, 2025 | Posted by fcav in News Updates

The Filipino-Canadian Association of Vaughan (FCAV) proudly marked the 28th Anniversary of Twinning between the City of Vaughan and Baguio City, Philippines — a partnership rooted in friendship, cultural exchange, and community spirit. First envisioned by the late Mayor Lorna Jackson in 1994 and realized in 1997, this enduring relationship continues to flourish through educational collaborations, official visits, cultural programs and economic opportunities. FCAV remains steadfast in strengthening this legacy by enhancing community spaces like the Patricia Kemp Community Centre, promoting cross-cultural understanding, and ensuring the Vaughan-Baguio friendship thrives for generations to come. The visit of Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong and his delegation to Vaughan for the 27th Twinning Anniversary last October reinforced our friendship and further strengthened academic ties, economic opportunities, and future collaborations. We would like to give special recognition to Mayor Steven Del Duca for generously donating $5,000 to the Filipino-Canadian Association of Vaughan (FCAV) to help relocate and enhance the Twin City Marker in Baguio City, as well as support FCAV’s ongoing community programs and activities. Thank you, Mayor Del Duca, for your continued support and for strengthening the friendship between Vaughan and Baguio City.
